ABSTRACT

The aim of current study was to investigate the in-vitro performance of compress aqueous enteric coated tablet of diclofenac sodium to reduce the toxicity of alcoholic compound. Six formulations of Core tablets were prepared and one who shows rapid disintegration (below five minutes) was selected for enteric coating. Enteric coating was employed by using water in different ratios using hydrotropic agent like sodium bicarbonate. Generally water is not dissolve in cellulose acetate phalate but when using sodium bicarbionate using 5% w/w it was dissolve in aqueous media and it was showed better dissolution ,disintegration, hardness and friability properties. This study concluded that enteric coated tablets of diclofenac sodium can be prepared by using aqueous solvent studied and we can reduce the GI tract side effects.

Keywords: Diclofenac sodium, Aqueous enteric coating, Sodium bicarbonate.
